Born and raised in Salinas, California Benjamin Raquinio’s first artistic influences came
from the sculptures of Monterey’s Wharf  galleries and the sculptors at the famed
“Cannery Row” of the mid-60's.  In time his early abstract steel sculptures gave way to the
copper and brass Repousse style of today.

Hawaii’s tropical sea lured the accomplished artist, sculptor, musician and surfer to the
islands from California in 1975.

Benjamin draws his inspiration from botanicals of Hawaii and the tranquility of the sea.
Veiled translucence within changing tides, for our memories and tired eyes.  “Sea Hawaii”
is the overall theme throughout the works of Raquinio sculpture.

In the past 30 years Benjamin's work has been collected and installed in hundreds of
locations throughout Hawaii and around the world.   Individual pieces have been found in
galleries throughout Hawaii.
